Research and Innovations

​

MICRA’s Research and Innovation Unit focuses on action research to promote increased outreach and the improved performance of the microfinance sector, poverty alleviation, community empowerment, social economy of agriculture, and improving SMEs capacity. The Research and Innovations Unit addresses critical development needs by conducting social and research and developing and disseminating information on innovative practices and tools. This unit also aims to obtain clear and accurate information about the financial and non-financial sector, the results of which can be used as input for client management to make strategic decisions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

​

The research officer is working under the direction of the Research and Innovation Unit Manager; the researcher will assist in day-to-day research activity in a timely and accurate manner. The duties and functions that a research officer handles are as follows:

​

  1. Able to format tables, fact sheets, graphs, and reports from each research results to make a report.

  2. Able to identify data needs and collect and validate information for research activities;

  3. Able to prepare and manage data.

  4. Assist in designing questionnaires and other data collection techniques;
    Study and screen all subjects who have registered as research subjects and determine their suitability for the research study to be conducted;

  5. Handle any necessary follow-up after the research has been conducted;

  6. Proofreading the data and making corrections if necessary;

  7. Preparing programs for specific tasks such as data entry and statistical analysis;

  8. Conduct a needs assessment with the client;

  9. Assist in the preparation of presentations, manuscripts, and other project-related topics;

  10. Surveying any upcoming and ongoing project activities.

  11. Formulate and enforce various research quality and control procedures;

  12. Design forms for data collection from the field;

  13. Studied and analyzed information on alternative courses of action to determine which plan would yield the best results;

  14. Collaborate with the rest of the team and provide input to solve various problems to keep the project running properly.

  15. Other tasks required to make the project a success by working with the team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

​

  1. Minimum S1 education in social science, economics, development studies, agriculture, or relevant field;

  2. Minimum 1 (one) year experience in Researcher activities. Researcher for microfinance, micro and macroeconomics, poverty alleviation, small and medium enterprises, and agricultural socio-economics will be an advantage;

  3. Intensive knowledge and engagement with various forms of social activities is essential;

  4. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research instruments;

  5. Strong computer skills in MS Office programs and statistical tools;

  6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

  7. Willingness to travel out of town and work under a tight schedule with tight deadlines;

  8. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
